Many animals need support due to a chronic injury, nerve damage (paralzyed), poor surgical outcome, trauma, and many more reasons. We  want to offer as much as we can for your pets, and a brace or wheelchair (wheel cart), may be what your beloved pet needs. Both cats and dogs can benefit from this type of support. Few practitioners will offer a brace as a conservative alternative to surgery, but it can be of great benefit to many animals.

Braces

At Natural Veterinary Therapy we will perform a casting (as above) and send it to AceOrtho which is a highly respected brace company. Once the brace is finished we will fine tune the fitting to your dog.

Knee braces are especially helpful for arthritic knees or for dogs who have have ruptured their cranial cruciate ligament in the knee. This is a common injury which renders the dog non weight bearing, or at best minimal weight bearing on the affected leg. This disorder usually requires surgery. However, if surgery is not possible, or is not the choice of the owner, then a brace can provide amazing support to the knee.

Other braces can be fitted for the carpus (wrist) and hock (heel).

Wheelchair

Wheelchairs are beneficial for animals who have paralysis of the hind limbs or trauma to any limb that renders it nonfunctional. For example Degenerative Myelopathy in German Shepherds, a ruptured intervertebral disc in Dachshunds, severe hip dysplasia in any breed,nerve damage due to trauma, and many more situations.

At Natural Veterinary Therapy we will perform all the necessary measurements on your dog for the wheelchair. Once it is finished being made, we will fit it to your dog and guide you on how to use it.  We work with Eddie's Wheels which make the highest quality wheelchairs we have had experience with.
